| Learning topics |
|
We've designed the program to delve into all the major hurdles intranet managers are facing this year. The include strategy and governance, metrics and performance, collaboration, communication and culture, and design and usability. There will be "economy-driven" topics, but also plenty of sessions that will give you the edge on what's next, and what you need to be doing this year to deliver more value and ROI from your intranet.
Here are some of the critical questions we'll be addressing in this conference:
- What does "intranet 3.0" look and feel like?
- With social media exploding, what should your intranet be doing with wikis, video, podcasts, blogs and social networking?
- Are intranets delivered by mobile phones ready for prime time?
- In this difficult economy, what are the best strategies and techniques to help maintain employee engagement and loyalty via the intranet?
- As the business world moves toward transparency, how can the intranet present a real and real-time dashboard of the state of the organization?
- What should intranet professionals be doing to prepare and manage through continuous change and crisis?
- What's the best route to optimize your employee directory with social software and presence information?
- What is your intranet worth, and what strategies will help you elevate the position?
- What are some best practices to gain true executive support for your intranet?
If you are struggling with any of the issues above, and need to come up with a game plan for your intranet, don't feel alone -- join us! Intranet Insider World Tour Live 2009 brings together intranet thought leaders to learn, be challenged, share and brainstorm about the future of intranets and the profession. Register today as conference is limited to 125 attendees.

Expanded Session Descriptions
Cultural Change and Enablement at IBM - Elliot Luber
A discussion of how IBM is changed its culture and is moving from Employee Communication to employee communication. A discussion of current communications management theory is used to illustrate the dramatic changes IBM is achieving by enabling its workforce to communicate and use Web 2.0 tools. This includes a discussion of the authentic enterprise and how the closely aligned roles and management and communications come together in the form of leadership and what this holds for the future of the profession.
Web-based Video for Employee Communications – Fred Leich
Advances in video camera technology, and the popularity of self-publishing Web sites such as YouTube, provided Con Edison with a unique opportunity to enhance the company’s internal communications. The company quickly moved the idea of short videos, produced at low cost and delivered via the corporate intranet, from concept to implementation. This presentation will discuss the inexpensive video technology behind Con Edison’s video channel; how various communications channels support and complement one another; and how the company assesses its communications via Web metrics and surveys.
Facebook and the Future of Employee Communications - James Lukach
What happens when a global work force of more than 400,000 begin to form grassroots communities on Facebook? Do you panic when employees are communicating outside the firewall or embracing the social network?
Jim Lukach from Siemens takes a look at how the company reacted when employees started communicating on their own. In this inspiring case study, you'll see how Siemens uses Facebook as an internal communications platform for everything from user-generated media to corporate messages to group collaboration. Learn how Siemens communicators:
- Persuaded management that external social networking is valuable—not scary
- Staffed the new communications channel
- Kept up with—and participated in—these new conversations
- Built business value into employee-generated communication and media
Successfully Deploying a Collaboration Platform Internally - Arun Prasad
How do design, deploy and grow a common platform to connect 45,000+ employees? What techniques do you utilize and how do structure the growth of this platform? What are the lessons that every organization can learn from our experience?
Arun Prasad from Deloitte’s Web Channel Solutions practice will provide a summary of their D Street program, an ambitious multi-year investment in building an information management and collaboration platform for Deloitte. This platform supports instant messaging, blogging, knowledge management and continues to evolve as it grows.
Learn more about the process that Deloitte used, the key lessons learned, tools that have been built and customized and the success it has delivers every day.
