Social Media Resistance Survey - Preliminary Report by Francis Pereira, USC

Dr. Francis Pereira, Director of Industry Research at the Institute for Communication Technology (CTM), Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, reported on preliminary findings of the SOCIAL MEDIA RESISTANCE SURVEY on Day 1 of the Executing Social Media Conference in Pasadena, May 21-22, 2008.
Interesting results on the question: How important are the following reasons in explaining the rate of adoption of new media and technologies by your organization, in general?
Lack of basic understanding (53%) and Corporate liability and legal issues (48%) were the two most important reasons mentioned followed by cost/staff issues (45%), concerns of network security (40%) and nature of industry (38%).
